The Humble petition of Mrs. King,
widow of the Late William King, Sergeant in the Police Force
of Hong Kong.
To the Right Honourable the Secretary of State.
Sheweth-
That your Petitioner was married to her husband (the late Sergeant Wm. King) A.D. 1850.
Your petitioner's husband joined the Police Force in January 1870 and had consequently carried his pension. He rejoined in 1880 for a further period of five years, and was taken ill in February 1880 and died on 15th January 1881 from climatic illness contracted at Aberdeen in the Colony of Hong Kong.
Your petitioner humbly prays that your benevolence may be extended to her, and allow her a gratuity in consideration of her late husband's faithful public services.
And as in duty bound, your Petitioner, will ever pray.
